The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai and members of the Borno State Elders Forum yesterday met and discussed issues concerning the ongoing military operation against Boko Haram militants in some parts of the state.
Chairman of the forum, Ambassador Usman Gaji Galtimari, shortly after the two-hour closed-door meeting that took place at the ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’ Command in Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri, told newsmen that they just met with the Chief of Army Staff and discussed issues concerning security.
“It had been a very informative and useful meeting, the result of which we all should wait for,” Galtimari said, adding that details were not meant for the public.
“I have told you, we have discussed, we have talked a lot of issues affecting our situation, and the result of discussion would be seen on the ground in the future,” he said.
Earlier, Buratai, who arrived Maiduguri yesterday for a three-day visit during which he would visit front line troops, had inspected military hardware recently deployed to the ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’ Command for the final onslaught against the Boko Haram.
“I am very confident that with the array of weapons we have just inspected Boko Haram will be completely defeated soon,” he said, adding, “The recent successes recorded in Gulumba-Kumshe axis and Alagarno Talala axis is a classical example of what joint operation can do,” he said. Among the military hardware inspected were vehicles, motorcycles, ammunitions, unmanned motor vehicles among others.
