The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, says the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has removed impunity from the polity.
Chief Odigie-Oyegun, who said this when the minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, paid him a courtesy visit at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, said the administration was on course to deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
He said: “These days they ask you what has the Buhari administration achieved in one year. People overlook the fact that he stabilised the polity; we were virtually on the edge. The trust that the people have on the president and the party that he leads has made a great difference. We can see it exemplified today.
“Hard as conditions are, the ordinary man and woman of this nation backed the president rather than the strike. That is trust and confidence in the person of the president.
“President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has removed impunity from the polity.
“With President Buhari, anybody who goes and dips his hand in the public till knows that he will have his day with the judicial system and be visited with the appropriate penalties and punishment,” he said.
Also, a member of the APC National Caucus, Chief Sam Nkire, has described President Buhari’s performance in his first year in office as “more than satisfactory.”
Nkire, in his assessment of the first year of the incumbent administration, said given the mess the president found on assumption of office, no one could have done better than him in the prevailing circumstance.
